Heath Side Boys Rocketry

HSB Rocketry was created in 2006, and has competed annually for the past 5 years in the Team America Rocketry Challenge. This year we are also competing in NASA's Student Launch Initiative. We the students design, build, fly, and run the program. Our objective is 1st place.

Objective Complete

Saturday May 14th, the team took first place at the 2011 Team America Rocketry Challenge! Over 600 teams took part in this contest nationwide. Now the team will be sent to Paris, France courtesy of Raytheon to compete against the top teams from the UK and France at the Paris Airshow.

Upcoming Events

All local launches before Paris have been completed. We leave for Paris on June 21st, have one test flight on June 23rd at the French rocket fly off, and our International Flyoff is on June 24th at roughly 11 AM in Paris (or 4 AM Central Standard Time).

SLI Launch

Sunday April 17th the team launched at NASA's Student Launch Initiative in Huntsville, Alabama. The rocket reached 5,264 feet, setting an all time closest to altitude record for all high school and college teams in the history of SLI. Two more launches remain for payload data aquisition before our SLI program ends.

TARC Qualification

Thursday March 24th the team conducted qualification flights for the Team America Rocketry Challenge. Paperwork was submitted after a very successful launch. Results from qualification flights will be posted April 7th.
